Java and Mac Divorce Risk? Jobs denied
Some recent statements by Apple Computer, the well-known multinational manufacturer of Macintosh products, iPhone, iPad and many other hardware and software, have alarmed some developers.
According to updated guidelines of the ‘App Store, the virtual store of applications for the device Apple, of Cupertino software manufacturers advise against using the technology Java, opting instead for a (modern?) C Sharp.
These statements, together with the fact that Apple is already developing self-care packages Java developer, have highlighted the possibility of an impending divorce between the company and the Oracle, which recently acquired Sun Microsystems.
“The version of Oracle? Best of our knowledge “
As you know, Java is a language based on object-oriented programmer Sun developed in laboratories and used on any platform (Windows, Linux, Mac, but also mobile phones, set-top boxes and many other devices) through a special virtual machine that interprets source files – or rather pre – without requiring them to be compiled individually for each platform in order to function.
The idea that Apple abandon the move to Oracle VM products made by itself is therefore likely to embarrass those who develop programs and especially the App: updates of an imaginary “Apple Java Runtime” would always be lagging behind compared to those of Universal Java runtime developed by Oracle and Sun.
These concerns were highlighted by numerous experts, and the response from Steve Jobs not long in coming: “Our version is always one step behind and then Oracle develops products for all other platforms. Work so work is not in the best way. “ One answer that seems to belie all the rumors. There’s hope so.
